ProBaja Conducts Economic Promotion Tour “Road Show CDMX 2024”

The delegation was composed of the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation, economic promotion agencies from various municipalities, and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. They visited consular offices and commercial representation offices of countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, China, the United States, and Germany, among others.

MEXICO CITY – To promote Baja California as a destination for foreign investment and identify growth plans in strategic sectors and opportunities in talent and technology development, the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI) and the state’s economic promotion agencies, through the ProBaja Trade & Investment alliance, carried out the “Road Show CDMX 2024” with embassies and commercial representation offices from several countries, reported Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo, Undersecretary for Investment Management.

“Once again, we organized an agenda in Mexico City, where the corporate offices of companies operating in the state are located, along with prospects from strategic industries and key partners such as economic departments in Embassies and Consulates. Accompanied by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, we highlighted the importance of the Cali-Baja region,” he stated.

The tour began on October 21 and will conclude on Friday, October 25. On the first day, a courtesy visit was made to the Embassy of Canada with the Commercial Delegate for Infrastructure and Energy to invite Canadian companies to Baja California. Additionally, the delegation attended a meeting with the China Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, visited Business France to promote the life sciences industry and a future trade mission, and met with Advantage Austria, which fosters Austrian investment and trade exchange.

The delegation also visited companies operating in the state, including Bimbo, to explore new opportunities in innovation centers, plant expansion, and e-mobility. At DHL, they reviewed new projects and specialized services for the aerospace, medical, and electronics industries. Meanwhile, at Dassault Systems, they discussed the roadmap for establishing multi-sector design and innovation centers in Baja California, focusing on aerospace, life sciences, and smart cities.

During the second day of activities, the delegation met with the embassies of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, where the main topics of discussion included the life sciences ecosystems in Baja California and the UK, talent development initiatives, investment projects, and the energy outlook in the region.

The delegation also attended a reception at the Embassy of the United States in Mexico, as well as with JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), an independent government agency founded in 1958 to effectively carry out activities related to the promotion of Japan’s international trade.

Additionally, meetings were held with Sempra Energy to discuss the energy outlook, as well as with Bosch, Paccar, IBM, and Becton Dickinson to identify growth opportunities.

The ProBaja Trade & Investment delegation is composed of presidents and representatives from the investment promotion agencies of Ensenada, Mexicali, Tijuana, and Tecate, as well as the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, including Pablo Charvel, Mario Peregrina, David Moreno, Kenia Zamarripa, and Javier Gómez.
