Kurt Honold Highlights Talent Development and Promotion of E-Mobility to Attract Companies to Baja California

Participates in “Connecting the Future” Summit Convened by the American Society in Mexico and Honeywell

MEXICO CITY – On September 3, Kurt Honold Morales, Secretary of Economy and Innovation, emphasized the importance of the talent development strategy promoted in collaboration with academia and the business sector. This initiative aims to equip young people with the skills needed to access better opportunities in key industries such as semiconductors.

The statement was made during the panel on sustainable nearshoring, part of the “Connecting the Future: Transition and Digital Transformation Summit,” organized by the American Society in Mexico and Honeywell during their Annual Convention.

During the panel, Secretary Honold shared the stage with senior executives from Whirlpool LATAM, Dow Chemical Mexico, and MÉXICO 2, under the coordination of Honeywell.

The discussion focused on how sustainable nearshoring is emerging as an efficient strategy for economic growth and innovation, while promoting environmental responsibility, in a context where companies are seeking to optimize their supply chains.

Honold Morales also highlighted Baja California’s progress toward zero-emission international cargo transport, along with the development of charging infrastructure. He stressed the importance of training operators and maintenance personnel and noted that financial solutions are being designed with the support of NadBank to back this initiative.

The Secretary also highlighted Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s support for infrastructure projects that strengthen the state’s competitiveness, such as the Otay II border crossing and the Port of Punta Colonet, among others.

The event brought together industry leaders and experts to analyze the main trends and challenges in Mexico’s business environment. Through interactive panels and presentations, key topics were addressed, including digital transformation in industrial automation, operational continuity in an uncertain world, and sustainable nearshoring strategies shaping the future of the global economy.

During the opening, Luis Ize Ludlow, Executive President of Honeywell Mexico, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of collectively addressing the challenges and opportunities that will define the direction of industry and the economy.

Ize Ludlow also highlighted Honeywell’s more than 90 years of presence in Mexico, with operations in Baja California, Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, Nuevo León, and Mexico City. He noted that the company has been a key player not only in the country’s economic development but also in strategic sectors such as aerospace, industrial automation, energy, and sustainability.
